Small Business: SHAPING THE BIG SOCIETY Virtual Summit launched

A FREE virtual summit run by small business for small business will be held from 14 - 18 November 2011 – registrations are now open and you can sign up at www.bigsocietysmallbusiness.co.uk
Small business leaders wil be gatheing together in online discussions and presentations about the key issues facing small businesses and how they can help shape the Big Society. Business will be talkin about their experiences and what matters to them as a small business in the Big Society.
The Big Society is not all about Big Business. In most areas - economic growth, community support, employment - small businesses do as much if not more than big business.
The Virtual Summit will bring together small businesses to highlight what they already do and discuss what more could be done to shape the Big Society.
It is a virtual summit so will save the time and expense of attending a face to face summit. Owners and manages can take part from their office, home or on the move.
The themes of the Virtual Summit are being chosen in discussion with small businesses. They include:
- Contributing to growth
- Environmental impact and sustainable business
- Active in our communities
- New entrepreneurs and enterprises
- Caring for our customers, our employees and ourselves
The Summit is a week of intensive discussion and action.
Before, during and after the Summit, there will be online discussions about the key themes and issues using the Summit website, LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter.

The key people involved in the summit are small businesses - the hosts, the participants and key presenters.
The virtual summit is organised and hosted by Simon Wilson and Carol Sherriff from Wilson Sherriff. They will facilitate discussions before and after the interviews using our dedicated LinkedIn and Facebook groups.
The Summit is supported by the Federation of Small Businesses, Social Enterprise UK, UnLtd and the department for Business Innovation and Skills (BIS) and the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA)
