The story of NLP and facilitation

Once upon a time, many years ago, organisations spent hours and hours in meetings that went nowhere and achieved nothing. People kept saying, “Something needs to be done!” But no-one knew quite what. Luckily, help was at hand. Over the horizon came a band of facilitators, facilitative leaders and managers skilled in group processes and armed with flipcharts and pin-boards to transform the nowhere and nothing meetings. For a while success was easy.

However, some years later, people began to mutter, “This is better than it was but …. We don't feel engaged. We feel excluded from the conversation, we can’t see the picture.” The facilitators were puzzled. Sometimes they got extraordinary results but sometimes they didn't. They did not know what more to do.

Luckily, once again help was at hand. Over the horizon, came a joyful band of facilitators who had lived in the NLP land of coaching, training and business management. They brought with them a kitbag full of new tools and techniques. They understood what would make the difference and how to do it. They shared their tools enthusiastically so that others could have spectacular results. Once again ease and success reigned.

The Art and Science of facilitation is designed for facilitators, facilitative leaders, managers and consultants with some experience of working with groups and relatively new to Neuro‐Linguistic Programming.

We have used the International Association of Facilitators’ competency framework to map NLP tools and techniques to facilitation. We focus on how to achieve fast and effective results.

Workshop style and content - The workshop will be highly interactive and participative, enabling you to test out techniques and methodologies during the two days.

Day one focuses on using techniques to develop your personal and professional facilitation skills. Day two focuses on facilitation techniques and approaches you can use with groups to achieve excellent results.
